Ingredients
  

  • 1 | lb | white fish fillets | cut into bites
  • 1 | cup | all-purpose flour |
  • 1 | | large egg |
  • 1/2 | cup | milk or water |
  • 1 | tsp | salt |
  • 1/2 | tsp | black pepper |
  • 1/2 | tsp | garlic powder |
  • 2 | cups | oil | for frying
  • 1 | | dipping sauce | of choice

Instructions
 

  • Cut fish into bite-sized pieces and pat dry.
  • Whisk flour, egg, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder into a smooth batter.
  • Toss fish pieces in the batter until fully coated.
  • Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F.
  • Fry fish in batches for 3–4 minutes, turning once, until deep golden.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve immediately with dipping sauce.

Notes

Best served fresh for maximum crispiness.
Leftovers can be reheated in a 375°F oven for 5–7 minutes.
Use any firm white fish such as cod or haddock.
Maintain oil temperature to avoid greasy results.
