  • 1 | Small pitcher or measuring cup | for pouring milk
  • 1 | Spoon | for egg mixture

Ingredients
  

  • 2 | | thick slices milk bread |
  • 1/2 | cup | milk |
  • 1 | | large egg |
  • 1 | tbsp | butter |
  • 1 | pinch | salt |

Instructions
 

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
  • Place one milk bread slice in the pan and toast until lightly golden.
  • Flip the bread and toast the second side briefly.
  • Pour the milk evenly over the bread and let it soak.
  • Beat the egg with salt and spoon it over the soaked bread.
  • Cook until the egg sets and the bottom is golden.
  • Remove to a board, rest briefly, then pull apart and serve hot.

Notes

Best enjoyed immediately for maximum crispness.
Store leftovers in the fridge up to 1 day and reheat in a skillet.
Use day-old milk bread if possible for better absorption.
Whole milk gives the richest results.
