Ingredients
  

  • 20 | cloves | garlic | peeled
  • 0.33 | cup | olive oil |
  • 1 | stick | butter | softened
  • 1 | tsp | salt |
  • 1 | tsp | dried mixed herbs |
  • 8 | slices | stale bread |
  • 0.5 | cup | grated Parmesan |
  • 1 | cup | shredded mozzarella |

Instructions
 

  • Place peeled garlic cloves in a small baking dish and cover with olive oil.
  • Roast at 375°F until cloves are soft and golden, about 20-25 minutes.
  • Mash the roasted garlic into a puree with a fork.
  • Add softened butter and mash until fully combined.
  • Season with salt and dried herbs; mix well.
  • Chill the garlic butter in the refrigerator until slightly firm.
  • Spread generous amounts of garlic butter onto slices of stale bread.
  • Top with Parmesan and mozzarella; bake at 400°F until cheese is melted and golden.
  • Tip: Watch closely during the final bake to prevent burning.

Notes

Store leftover garlic butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 1 week.
Freeze the compound butter for up to 3 months.
Reheat leftover bread slices in a 350°F oven for best texture.
Use day-old bread for optimal crispiness after baking.
